Handcrafted Bowls

by artist Gary Dolan

Gary has been an avid woodworker for decades [that's a polite way of saying he's old!]. Over the years, he has made numerous furniture pieces for himself and others.

More recently, he has developed a love for the art of woodturning on a lathe, with focus on bowls made from local species of wood. Cherry is a favorite because of its rich color and interesting grain. The wood he uses is always from trees that have already been toppled by storms or cut down for other reasons.

You will see in his collection a variety of sizes and styles, including the very popular "natural edge" bowls that exhibit a more organic shape, sometimes including the tree's natural bark.

Pluckhouse Ceramics by

artist David Pluck

David Pluck is the designer of PluckHouse ceramics, a small production company located in Akron, Ohio , focused on the design and manufacture of handcrafted tableware for commercial and residential applications. Handblown Glass Art

by artist John Boyett

I was born in 1964 and raised in Dade City, Florida.  Aspiring to see the world, I joined the United States Air Force in 1984.  I was stationed in California and completed my five-year enlistment in Turkey.

I returned to Central Florida and completed an Associate of Arts degree from Pasco Hernando Community College.  I moved to Miami, Florida in 1992 and studied Fine Arts at Florida International University.  I worked at the FIU Art Museum, was a member of the University of Miami glass blowing guild, and studied during the summer months at Penland School of Crafts.  I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in glass from FIU in 1996.

After graduation, I moved to Ahus, Sweden and worked at Studio Glashyttan for a year.  I came to Northeast Ohio in 1997 to study glass at Kent State University.  I specialized in blowing early American glass while working at Hale Farm and Village.  And in April 2006, I co-founded and opened Akron Glass Works.

I live in the Canton area and love the city's support of the fine arts.  I am very excited to be a part of this growing community.  I hope you will stop in to see what is happening at Canton Glass Works.

P.S. - First Friday is a city sponsored art walk.  It is held in the evening on the first Friday

of every month and is great fun.

Pam Dolan has been a quilt lover and quilter for 30 years.  She has lovingly created and made quite a number of quilts for her children and grandchildren as well as for close friends.

After retiring from a professional career in coronary care nursing, Pam decided to share her love of quilting with others by starting an eBay store called Quilt Kits N Pieces, specializing in Moda fabric and quilt kits. Packaging the quilt kits enables quilters and aspiring quilters to get right to work on their quilts without the hassle of matching and gathering a myriad of fabrics before they begin.  As a result of this service, over the years, dozens of Pam’s customers have become long-distance friends.

Recently, she added framed fabric artwork to her offerings.  They feature the same richly-colored, elegant fabrics pieced and assembled like a tiny quilt and displayed in hand-crafted natural wood frames.  They are available to purchase at the 3rd Space Art Gallery in downtown Canton.

BDM Designs is a label meant to encompass multiple forms and
styles of Art. Kathy Pugh is the artist behind the label. A graduate
of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art,
she has always had a passion for the Arts. In the early stages of
her career, she worked as a fashion designer/seamstress for over
ten years. A family and the desire for her children to have Art
instruction in school led her to return to college to obtain  grade 1-8certification in teaching. She went on to obtain a Masters in
Education and K-12 Visual Art certification and is presently
teaching Visual Art at the STEAMM Academy @ Hartford. While at
STEAMM, she introduces her students to the world of fashion
design. Through this unit the teaching artist and one of her s tudents participated in a fashion event put on by the Canton Chamber of Commerce. This experience inspired her to once again return to
the world of fashion while still pursuing and creating the more
traditional forms of Art. As a result, BDM Designs was born.
Artwork other than fashion under the BDM Designs label is a
combination of traditional and non-traditional media. The artist,
Kathy Pugh’s formal training in traditional drawing and painting
materials gave the background knowledge to pursue a more
eclectic choice of media. A strong focus for media presently is that
of recycled materials. The trees featured were made from wire
from discarded electronics and lawn equipment. The glass mosaic
is recycled wood and scraps of stained glass. Future projects are
exploring media such as wall paper paste and unused toilet paper
from the end of rolls used in commercial settings.

Cory Guidone enjoys

coming up with wooden

designs and then creating them.  He chooses to uses recyclables such as skids, wood used for packaging and remnants from construction jobs.  His designs are usually one of a kinds but he has done consignment work upon request.
